Nursing Team

Our practice nursing team and work alongside our community nursing colleagues to provide an integrated and high quality service to our patients both at the surgery and at home.

In addition to general nursing duties, our nurses have specialist areas, including chronic disease management, health promotion, family planning and travel vaccinations. Community nurses offer nursing needs to those who are housebound. Health visitors support families with children under the age of 5. To find out more click the Our Service tab.

    Sandra trained at Pinderfield Hospital in 1983 as an Orthopaedic Nurse then at York District Hospital for General Nursing in 1985, working on the peaditarics ward before joining the community team. She trained as a Health Visitor in 1990, moving to Ferrybridge in 1995 and joining the Practice as Team Co-ordinator in 2001. Sandra completed Nurse Practtitoner Training at Masters level in 2002.

    Sandra developed the Nurse-led triage service and led the Intergrated Nursing Team, she now works 1 day per week for Wakefield CCGas a Nurse Advisor.

    She has completed specialised training in Asthma, Family Planning, COPD and has extensive experience in Diabetes, Counselling Skills, Paediatrics and Health Promotion.

    Sandra is also a Nurse Prescriber.

  • Catherine Beaumont

    Nurse Practitioner.

    Catherine trained at Pinderfields and Pontefract Hospitals NHS trust and qualified in 1993, working in respiratory medicine, acute medicine and accident and emergency. She then became Ward Sister on the medical assessment unit at Pontefract for 5 years before becoming a Clinical Site Manager at Pinderfields for a year. Catherine left the hospital to become a Community Matron for 7 years, initially at Normanton then laterly at Knottingley and Ferrybridge. Catherine joined the practice in May 2014 as a Nurse Practitioner. Her specialist interests are respiratory disease, elderly care and complex disease management. Catherine’s outside interests are horse riding and squash. She has her own horse called Dancer and she plays squash locally at Pontefract squash and leisure club.
