Nurse
Our Nurses and Healthcare Assistants provide a wide range of services for our patients. We offer blood tests, ECGs, wound care and injections alongside a number of other services as detailed below. Our reception team will be able to book an appointment for you with the member of the team most appropriate for your needs.
- Cervical Smears
-
We strongly recommend you have regular cervical smears to detect any changes in the cells of the cervix. Women aged between 25 and 49 are invited for testing every three years, and women aged between 50 and 64 are invited every five years. Invitations for screening are sent by the Local Health Authority. Please make an appointment for your smear when you receive your letter.
- Travel Clinic
-
If you require any vaccinations relating to foreign travel you need to make an appointment with the practice nurse to discuss your travel arrangements. This will include which countries and areas within countries that you are visiting to determine what vaccinations are required. Most travel vaccines are ordered on a private prescription and these incur a charge over and above the normal prescription charge. This is because travel vaccination is not included in the services provided by the NHS and therefore is a chargeable service.
There is further information about countries and vaccinations required on this website: http://www.fitfortravel.scot.nhs.uk/destinations.aspx
Travelling in Europe
If you are travelling to Europe a very useful booklet has been published with advice and guidance to help you get the most out of your holiday. To visit please click:- http://ec.europa.eu/publications/booklets/eu_glance/86/en.pdf (this is a large document and may take a minute or two to view)
