Practice Profile

Park View Surgery aims to provide the best possible healthcare service by working in partnership with our patients. We serve a patient population of 2,700 around Normanton and Castleford, West Yorkshire. The Practice is associated with Ferrybridge Medical Centre. There are five GPs who work at the surgery.

We have a strong nursing team, including, four Nurse Practitioners, two Practice Nurses and one Healthcare Assistants, who all help to deliver a range of our services. Advanced Nurse practitioners are nurse prescribers with advanced training who offer an alternative to seeing a GP for acute illnesses and chronic disease management. We have close links with our Community Nursing Team and Health Visiting Team. The practice is supported by our Management, Administration, and Reception teams.

We are involved in the training of junior doctors to become GPs. GP registrars spend between 6 and 12 months at the practice during their training. The practice is fully computerised.

Out of hours access to a GP is provided by NHS 111. Patients can call 111 directly or be directed automatically to it if they call the surgery number when we are closed. Patients calling the out of hour’s service are either advised over the telephone, invited to see a GP, or receive a home visit. The practice receives records from NHS 111 listing details of any of our patients who have used the service.

From April 2015 it has become a contractual requirements for GP practices to publish on their practice websites by 31 March 2016 the mean net earnings of the partners, salaried GPs and locum who has worked in the practice for over six months.

The average pay for GPs working at Park View Surgery in the last financial year 2014/15 was £27,094 before tax and National insurance. This is for 4 part time GPs.
